I am native to South Mexico, Florida and Cuba. However, I have also gained a large population in parts of Kenya. I am a small, fast-growing tree and have various uses. Regarding my practical services, the most common include soil fertility, firewood, fibre, and livestock fodder. I was coined as a miracle tree in the early 1970s and 1980s. My high protein characteristics and multi-vitamin benefits make me perfect for cattle fodder. As I am a great source of firewood, I was probably introduced to the Arboretum as an exotic tree during the push in the early 1900s for sources of energy to build the railway. Although I am great for practical reasons, I also have some toxic characteristics, which means caution is required when using me.
