I am native to South and East Asia. However, I quickly got introduced to the rest of the world because I became popular as an ornamental plant. You will often not find me alone because I tend to host a variety of birds that are attracted to my scent and nectar, particularly songbirds and wrens. My flowers differ; they can be white, pink, mauve, purple or carmine. I am particularly popular in the UK and the USA, in fact in the UK I gained a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. I am low maintenance, and my flowers are in full bloom for an abnormally long time during the season.
