Tree Description

I am native to areas South of the Sahel, but I am especially popular in Kenya where I have gotten my own nickname “leleshwa”. My other nickname that is more widely used is “Camphor bush” because of my identifiable scent. From afar, my white flower makes me appear as a white bush, which makes me easy to spot. However, this is only relevant for my male plants, whereas my female plants only have a few flowers so is less unidentifiable. Additionally, my flowers are only present between December and May, meaning during the rest of the year it is just as difficult to spot me. My fragrant wood secretes aromatic oils, which is sometimes harvested and used for aromatherapy. When it is processed it can also be used as a form of insect repellent
