Tree Description

I am a well-known native tree in Kenya. The Maasai tribe use my stems to make sheaths for their swords. I can be used as firewood, but the spicy odour I emit when burned makes me less popular for this use. I often grow in ever-green forest locations but I can also be found on rocky hillsides. My strong roots make me effective for soil stabilisation and I often am also used to aid soil enrichment, this makes me a good intercropping choice. My seeds and resin are poisonous, so please refrain from eating them.
