Tree Description

I originated in South America and have since been cultivated widely around the subtropical and tropical climates. Apart from that, I am a popular houseplant because of my attractive flowers. I have also been popular during past centuries amongst royalty. My nickname “frangipani” was coined by Italian nobles in the sixteenth century. I am usually found in lowland areas and coastal regions, meaning my ideal conditions include full sun exposure and moisture access. However, I do not grow well in wet soils especially when they are below 10oC. I have been naturalised in inland regions as well over time due to how much my species has spread. Although I do have practical botanic uses, I can also be poisonous if not used properly so you must be careful.
