I am native to Kenya and you will often find me planted for ornamental purposes. My beauty makes me popular and is mainly due to my pink-tinged white flowers and my dense crown. I am a slow-growing tree and I do best when planted in full sun exposure and in well-drained, loamy soil. I naturally grow in either dry or moist forests and at elevations between 1100 and 2100 m. I grow fruit in the form of a flat woody pod and you can usually find about 2-3 seeds inside each of my fruits. Once they go through a long cooking period these seeds are edible and are usually enjoyed by people in the areas I grow naturally.
