Tree Description

I am native to South Mexico and Nicaragua. Often, I am grown as an ornamental plant in Asia, whereas in other regions, I have mainly been used for my supplemental qualities for health reasons. Some unique factors about me apart from my appearance include that the flowering of both my male and female flowers continues most of the year. My seed expulsion is also quite remarkable, where after maturing, I explode and scatter my seeds up to 13 feet away from me. This mechanism means my population tends to expand quite rapidly, which is part of why I am not endangered. All parts of me are considered toxic as I often secrete purgative oil and other toxins.
